Treatment techniques are based upon knowledge of functional anatomy, accurate patient history, diligent observation and a thorough examination. It is through complete assessment, utilising orthopaedic and neurological tests and physical examination, that problems of the shoulder, elbow and wrist can be accurately identified enabling the practitioner to logically develop a treatment plan This course combines both theory and practical applications for injuries of the upper extremity. The role of the Sports Therapist in prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of common sports injuries of the upper extremity is studied in classroom and laboratory settings. Topics include: recognition and immediate care of common sports injuries, introduction to assessment and rehabilitation techniques.
