Myotherapy focuses on injury prevention, health and fitness promotion and maintenance as well as care during injury and rehabilitation. Myotherapy training shares the foundations of anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, exercise science, and manual therapies with other 'hands on' health professions. Myotherapy practice includes a broad range of therapeutic modalities including myofascial techniques, soft tissue therapy, deep tissue massage, corrective exercises and myofascial dry needling. The Australian College of Sports Therapy offers short courses through to an Advanced Diploma in Myotherapy.

 

Myotherapy Program of Training

Our Nationally Recognised, Government Accredited Advanced Diploma of Remedial Massage (Myotherapy) gives you all the skills to become a qualified professional myotherapist. This course is designed to equip graduates with the practical skills and relevant scientific knowledge required to deliver applied musculo-skeletal techniques for the treatment and rehabilitation of injuries including sport, work and motor vehicle. Myotherapists work in a variety of clinical situations including primary client contact and by referral from other health care providers.

 

Myotherapy Course Duration

Full-time : Two and a half years. Part-time available.

 

Entry Requirements

Satisfactory completion of VCE and Units 3 and 4 English. The College also recommends completion of one science subject preferably Biology, Health and Human Development or Physical Education. Extracurricular activities such as participation in sports and health related activities are taken into consideration.

For mature age students who wish to enrol, the College considers work history and life experience.
