What is a Sports Therapist?
Sports Therapists are professional health care practitioners who provide treatment and rehabilitation, improvement of performance, increased mobility and fitness as well as injury prevention. Sports Therapists work as pivotal members of the sports medicine team, independently in private practice and as industry consultants. To become a Sports Therapist, graduates complete this three year program at the Australian College of Sports Therapy.
Program of Training
Our VET FEE-HELP Approved, Nationally Recognised and Government Accredited, [22030VIC] Advanced Diploma of Sports Therapy gives you the skills and knowledge to become a qualified professional Sports Therapist. ACST produces high level graduate Sports Therapists who work in interesting and exciting environments using their hands and minds to assess, treat and prevent disorders caused by injury. They also assist athletes to perform at their peak.
Course Duration
Full-time : Three years. [6 Semesters] Part-time available.
Entry Requirements
Satisfactory completion of VCE and Units 3 and 4 English. The College also recommends completion of one science subject preferably Biology, Health and Human Development or Physical Education. Extra curricular activities such as participation in sports and health related activities are taken into consideration.
For Mature Age students who wish to apply, the College considers work history and life experience.
Course Content
The course has four main components:
- Foundation Sciences
- Practical Skills
- Clinical Application
- Practice and Business Management
On successful completion of the Advanced Diploma of Sports Therapy you are fully qualified to set up and operate your own clinic or be employed in existing sports medicine centers. You will be eligible for membership in Professional Associations that will enable you to obtain a provider number allowing your clients to claim refunds from health funds and WorkCover.
