Sports and remedial massage are soft tissue therapies that use a hands on approach to treatment. This includes a variety of massage techniques, stretching and associated methods. Sports and remedial massage assists with treating muscular tension and fatigue - soothing muscular aches and pains by encouraging the body to relax. Sports and remedial massage can improve circulation, by stretching the skin and providing a positive therapeutic touch.
This course is practical and gives you skills to establish and manage a successful remedial massage practice.
Program of Training
The Diploma of Remedial Massage provides graduates with the advanced skills and knowledge required to establish and manage a private practice in sports remedial massage and adjunctive techniques. The focus of treatment is the rehabilitation of pain, restoration of mobility and treatment of injury to the muscles and joints. Graduates of the Diploma of Remedial Massage may articulate directly into the Advanced Diploma of Remedial Massage (Myotherapy).

For those wanting a career in this exciting and fast growing health profession, ACST offers the Advanced Diploma of Remedial Massage (Myotherapy). .
With units from the Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice (HLT40307) as prerequisite, this Diploma provides knowledge and skills in the assessment and treatment of musculo-skeletal conditions.
Students learn how to take clients through a static and dynamic musculoskeletal assessment, then conduct and interpret results in order to apply a range of treatments for relief – restoring normal functions in clients.
The Diploma incorporates a range of new and exciting techniques, following on from the foundations developed in the Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice, including myofascial release, joint mobilisations, muscle energy techniques and positional release, all of which will help reduce symptoms of pain and discomfort.
The Diploma opens more doors for opportunity in the industry, and graduates are able to gain full membership with industry associations and health providers.
This qualification provides trained massage therapists with the skills and knowledge to upgrade to a higher level of practice.
